The NS Residence, a 3,300 sq ft home in Kadawatha, Sri Lanka, beautifully captures the essence of serene living amidst lush greenery and picturesque paddy fields. Situated on a compact 8.5-perch site, this residence presented a unique challenge: maximizing space while prioritizing unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape. The clients envisioned a home where the living spaces seamlessly blended with the tranquility of the paddy fields, and this vision became the driving force behind the design.
The core concept of the NS Residence revolves around creating a harmonious dialogue between the built environment and the natural landscape. The design focuses on optimizing the limited site area to achieve a sense of openness and connection with the outdoors. This was achieved by adopting an open-plan layout, carefully positioning key living spaces, and utilizing large windows to frame the panoramic views.
